Cleaning Day

I am about to shock you with some news that you probably never knew about your child.  Are you ready??  You may want to sit down for this one.  Your socks may literally be blown off your feet, but here it goes:
  YOUR CHILD LOVES TO CLEAN
Yep, you heard me right.  Give a kid a Clorox Wipe and we might as well be teacher of the year in their eyes.  Boys begin cheering . . . girls squeal, giddy with excitement.  They will straighten, stack, dust, vacuum, organize, etc.  The list goes on and on of the different cleaning tasks these kids love to do!

Valentine's Day

For some, Valentine's Day means love, but for a 5th grader, it means this: Candy, sugar, candy, sugar, more candy, and more sugar. This pretty much sums up our Valentine's Day. Mix that with a rainy day that meant no recess, and you will get a sneak peek into what Valentine's Day was like at RD Head Elementary. Here are some pictures of our little cherubs on that special day:

Spelling Bee

Friday was the school-wide spelling bee.  Fourth and fifth graders who won their classroom spelling bees competed to become the school-wide champ.  We are so proud of our classroom representatives who all did such a great job competing.
Aalea and Annika were the classroom winners from Mrs. Rushin's homeroom.
Kennedy and Brisha were the classroom winners from Mrs. Fleming's homeroom.
The spelling bee began at 9:00 am and didn't end until 10:15am.  This went down in history at RD Head as the longest spelling bee ever!  Such great competition!
We all watched anxiously from our classrooms to see who would become the next RD Head spelling bee champion.

We are very proud to announce that the winner of the 2012 RD Head Spelling Bee was:
Kennedy!
Kennedy will now go on to compete in the Gwinnett County spelling bee.  We are so proud of you Kennedy!  Job well done!

Christmas Party

Thank you to our wonderful Room Moms for throwing us a great Christmas Party.  The party started out with a few rounds of Bingo . . . red and green style!
Winners!  Jack and Deseree calling out their winning numbers!
After Bingo, we indulged in the hallway of sweets . . . a.k.a. the edible landforms!
We are so blessed to have a team of such sweet children.  They really are friends, and get along with each other so well.
Gotta love these boys!!
We hope everyone had a wonderful break.
Happy New Year!

Nash Farm Battlefield

A HUGE THANK YOU for attending the Nash Farm Jubilee!  We had a GREAT day of canons firing, soldiers marching, and civil war re-enacting.  One student even found out that his father's cousin was the organzier of the entire re-enactment!  Another student came to the re-enactment on Saturday AND Sunday . . . what dedication!  Please enjoy the pictures!
